BECAUSE YOU'RE WORTH IT

This year, our office has planned many exciting activities - to ensure the success of these activities your support and cooperation are greatly needed, either as program helpers/volunteers or program participants.

One of the activities that is long overdue is sports activities. Last year, we were not able to have one just like the one conducted by COB because our DPPs are not homogeneous in nature .. i.e. (I) we have two DPPs with 2700 residents and two DPPs with only 800 residents - hence inequality in terms of total strength, and (II) one DPP is an all-females DPP - thus the DPP is at a disadvantage in so many different ways. As a result, inter-DPP sporting events may sound a bit ridiculous.

This year, we change the strategy. Instead of inter-DPP, we go for inter-division. So here is how it is going to be:

1. There are five divisions in UUM CAS - Physical Sciences, Applied Sciences, Humanities, Educational Studies, and Social Sciences.
2. For each event/game, we will have 5 teams - one team from each division.
3. Every game will be contested on a round-robin basis (sistem liga .. hehe)
4. The games planned are soccer (male), futsal (male/female), volleyball (male/female), basketball (male/female), badminton (mixed), tennis (mixed), and netball (female).

Details regarding the exact dates and venues will be posted from time to time. In the meantime, please get ready and start recruiting for team members. The games are scheduled to begin after
our March convocation and are expected to continue throughout this year.

In order to get the whole year-long celebration started, we are now inviting all of you to join the opening ceremony (which earmarks the beginning of the many good things to come) which will be held on 23 March 2010 at our UUM Stadium starting from 8:30 p.m. Please look out for posters to be posted everywhere for the details of this opening ceremony.

This year long activities (academic and non-academic) are packaged under the program called

" BECAUSE YOU'RE WORTH IT"
